As the days grow shorter and the air turns colder, it’s a natural time for reflection and recalibration — a reminder that change is constant both around us and within us. This season, staying connected, spending time outdoors, and caring for our mental well-being can help us not just weather the shift, but grow through it together as a community.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Fond du Lac, Nourish is more than a salon — it’s a space where beauty and wellness come together in perfect balance. Blending holistic health with low-toxin salon care, founder Leah Bridgeford and her team are helping the community feel, look, and live better from the inside out.

Seventeen year old Havah Fleisner, a senior at St. Mary Springs Academy, has turned her own journey with Stargardt’s Macular Degeneration into a mission to inspire and advocate for others with vision loss. Crowned The United States of America’s Teen 2024, she uses her platform to raise awareness, share hope, and encourage others to see beyond challenges. From writing her upcoming children’s book “The Letter E” to speaking nationwide and organizing sight-related initiatives across Wisconsin, Havah continues to prove that true vision goes far beyond what the eyes can see.

A pump track is a community gathering space that brings riders of all ages…

We may have turned the clocks back, but the savings are moving full speed…

This week in The Faces of Our Future, I caught up with my old friend TJ Lee, who I’ve known since our days back at Parkside Elementary. TJ’s story is one of passion, discipline, and giving back. What started as a love for martial arts turned into a mission to help kids right here in Fond du Lac. From training students in his garage to building a growing MMA program that teaches respect, confidence, and heart. TJ’s impact on our community is one that reaches far beyond the mat.

This week in Creative Corner, I sat down with longtime friend and dance instructor Julie Wilson, a woman who’s been moving to the rhythm of life since she was three years old. From her early days training under Mary Wempner to competing across the country in Ballroom and Latin dance, Julie’s story is one of passion, community, and joy. Now teaching out of the same studio she grew up in, she continues to share her love of dance with Fond du Lac, one step, spin, and smile at a time.

As the crisp air rolls in and the leaves start painting the trails in shades of gold, Fond du Lac comes alive with that unmistakable fall charm. Yet, along with pumpkin patches and cozy sweaters- as the days get shorter and busier - it's easy to slip into exhaustion and the hustle of the holiday season.
So, before the cold and flu season (and the holiday chaos) really take hold, let’s talk about how to keep your energy up, your immunity strong, and your mood steady- all while enjoying everything our community has to offer.
