Irish’s Bar A Staple Of Fond du Lac
I stopped down at Irish’s Bar this last Tuesday for St. Patrick’s Day, something I’ve made a habit of over the years. It’s not my first time in there by any means, but there’s something about going on that day that is always so much fun! I grabbed a Guinness and a cup of their Irish stew, and hung out with my friends Sam and Marlene. The place had a great crowd, a lot of familiar faces, and had great energy from the moment you walked in.
Irish’s has been part of Fond du Lac since December 12, 1955, and after 70 years, it still feels like it hasn’t strayed from what it’s always been. Owned by Pat Mangan, it’s one of those places that people have been coming back to for years. Not because it’s trying to be anything new, but because it’s a great place to hang out.
Inside, it’s got a cozy setup that makes it easy to settle in. The fireplaces give it that warm vibe, the booths are perfect if you want to sit and talk for a while, and the lounge area in the back opens things up if you’re there with a group. It’s a place you can spend some time in without even thinking about it.
And St. Patrick’s Day is one of the few times they bring out food, and that Irish stew just fit the day perfectly. Pair that with a Guinness, the crowd, and the atmosphere, and it just makes for a solid way to spend the afternoon or night. After 70 years, Irish’s is still doing its thing, and it shows.
