Christmas Celebration Light Show Makes A Local Impact.

Every year when the Lakeside Park light show hosted by Fond du Lac Noon Rotary Club starts up, it feels like the start of Christmas in Fond du Lac. It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve been there, pulling into that parking lot, tuning the radio, and watching the lights dance in the cold night air still never gets old. I’ve been going for years now, and it’s just one of those simple local traditions that makes you feel connected to the community.

My favorite moment is when the Trans-Siberian Orchestra song comes on. That’s the one I wait for. I’ll literally stop talking mid-sentence just to listen to it. The lights hit different during that part, and for a few minutes I just sit back and enjoy it. Plus the quirky jokes the Chipmunks tell throughout the show always make me laugh. 😂 It’s a small thing, but honestly, it means a lot to me every year. 🎅🎄

And then right by the parking lot, you’ve got The Snack Shack. They serve several types of seasonal drinks and snacks. What a lot of people don’t realize is that it’s run by the local rugby program, and all the profits go straight back into helping kids stay involved. It helps cover registration fees, equipment, and field maintenance. They’ve made it so no kid ever gets turned away because of money, and the light show fundraiser is a big part of how they make that possible.

It’s little things like that that remind me why we have something special here. Families watching the lights together. Volunteers running the Snack Shack. Kids staying in sports because the community steps up. It’s not flashy, and it’s not complicated, but it’s real. And honestly, that’s why I look forward to it every December.

(It starts Thanksgiving night November 27th 2025 at 5:00 PM-11PM and ends January 1st)
