Every Thanksgiving morning in Fond du Lac has its own kind of magic, that crisp cool air, bundled up families, and the sound of people coming together before the cooking begins. The Festival Foods Turkey Trot has grown into one of those traditions that just feels right, the kind that pulls friends, neighbors, and whole families out of their warm houses to share a moment before the holiday officially kicks off!

For my family, it’s something we look forward to every year. My wife, our daughter, and our dog always take on the 2 mile route. The fact that so many great people in our community come together, reminds me why this event hits so close to home. It’s not about miles or timing. It’s about showing up together, laughing through the cold, and being surrounded by a community that feels like one big extended family. ❤️

And of course, the tradition really starts the night before. Gobble Fest, and the bars throughout Fondy packed with familiar faces, old friends catching up like no time has passed… it’s one of those nights where Fondy truly feels alive. Then the next morning you’re standing shoulder to shoulder with half the people you saw out the night before, all pretending they didn’t stay up too late. Oops!! 😬

By the time you finish the trot, grab your pumpkin pie, and head home, Thanksgiving feels complete. The food, the smells, football on TV, and family rolling in.. it all hits a little differently after spending the morning doing something you actually enjoy.
