Hometown Hero: Music, Community, and Giving Back with Darren Goodpaster
Some people quietly give back to the community without asking for anything in return, and Darren Goodpaster is one of those guys. I’ve known Darren for a few years now, and one thing that’s always stood out to me is how willing he is to step up and help. Every week, Darren donates his time to help write for the Fondy 6 Pack, helping bring stories, events, and local highlights to life for the community. That consistency and commitment doesn’t go unnoticed.
Darren originally came from Las Vegas and made the move to Fond du Lac back in 2005. Over the years, he’s built a great life here, both personally and professionally. He’s currently a mechanic at Michels Corporation, but his background is in the motorcycle and powersports world where he spent years as a technician and service manager. He’s the kind of guy who knows how to work with his hands, whether it’s under the hood or building something from scratch.
Outside of work, Darren stays busy doing what he loves. Music is a big part of his life, whether he’s playing guitar, running karaoke shows, DJing events, or even performing for benefits and fundraisers. He also has a creative side with woodworking, building cigar box guitars, and even running a side hustle selling streaming boxes and subscriptions. It’s always something with Darren, and that’s part of what makes him who he is.
At the end of the day, what really defines Darren is his willingness to give back. Whether it’s volunteering his time, helping with local causes, or entertaining a crowd at a benefit, he shows up. He’s been married to his wife since 2010 after meeting in 2008, and together they’ve built a family with two sons and a daughter. Darren’s one of those people who helps make Fond du Lac what it is, and that’s exactly what a Hometown Hero is all about.
